Hello, I’m Yalun (Alan) Zhang, MD, M.Ed, and welcome to Aperture Psychiatry. First and foremost, this is a safe space, free from judgement. I will always treat you with respect, empathy, and curiosity, not just as another “patient”, but a person with whom I have the privilege of guiding and witnessing on your journey to mental health and healing.

Philosophy: integrative, holistic

Approach: culturally sensitive, relationally focused

Goal: to help you let the light in, focus on the things that matter to you, and build a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling to you.

Promise: to seek understanding before assumptions, respect your autonomy, and be honest about the limits of my knowledge when they arise. If your needs extend beyond my expertise, I will help you find the right path forward.

My sincere hope is that one day our work together comes to an end. The length of that journey will be different for everyone, but the goal remains the same: to help you develop the confidence and tools to continue without me. You have always possessed the capacity to find your own path. My role is simply to walk beside you for a time, offering guidance and support until you no longer need it.
